TCEC Season-10: Who's the winner, really?

The 10th season of TCEC may have been the most interesting of all seasons. The three muskeeters met once again at the top and equally shared three available crowns. I'm not interested in constructing a spectacular article about which one is stronger. I just think they are very close to each other and generating an obvious difference seems very difficult between them, even with such extreme hardware used by TCEC organisers.
We've seen Houdini reaching 70 MNps in some starting positions and Stockfish floating around 55. It was impressive to see 43 threads running together. All that's left to do is to thank all TCEC team for the great show they delivered to chess lovers.

By the way, you should not miss the great article published by Chessbase which included comments by the authors of Houdini and Komodo. A must read for all:

  13. Hi chyssidh14,thanks on your tip I've saw the 02 value now and critter works both in DroidFish,CEPA and CfA.Btw,critter's opening book works in cfa and it's still good.

  14. Regarding engine tournaments/matches I'm using Chess Tournament&CEPA by javiolo and also CfA.Acid Ape Chess in my opinion is overrated and as pointed out by Alexei, many engines have problem working on that GUI

  15. Why there isn't an apps on the earth to convert pgn to bin file ? I'm tired of searching Google...

  16. Regarding Paulzzz
i use chess tournament app as well

but i need a format to battle the engine
    like rapiddroid or tcec
to generate own ranking ( only for my personal use ) but i need less games

    tournament format i needed actually

    1. Less games: Not a good idea. For a good list, 200 games per engine are necessary. Don't forget that TCEC has a list with many complications. In Rapidroid, i always check the ELO trend with graphics and i see that stability starts after 9-10 rounds. Approx 180-200 games.

  17. Round Robin or Gauntlet
both produces a lot of games.......

    i usually game between 1 vs 1
    then another 1 vs 1
who wins or same elo matching them again
but some engine plays alot of game while others not

  18. yesterday firenzina beats every chess engine evn stockfish7

now what happened it losses n win with other chess engine

i use default settings in chess tournament app
    yesterday game pgn
    https://app.box.com/s/ckvbudr4yah0garr3d2r14wcd5et0np5

please answer why it is stronger yesterday

    1. You have something wrong. Stockfish 7 is stronger than Firenzina on any machine and in any shell. One and two batches are not enough for a reliable result (dozens, hundreds and sometimes thousands of games are needed).

  19. Hi,sir Alexie today i made match between andscacs, critter and firenzina and i saw that Andscacs lost engine in all game against every engine at cfa why?? before this i didn't use andscacs at cfa.

    1. You've got some specific issue with Andscacs. I confirm zero abnormal termination in Rapidroid after 400+ games. Ranking will soon be published as soon as i get back home.

    2. I need to watch the games (throw them to me), but I did not have problems with Andscacs in CFA.

  20. Rahul Srivastav, the .cfg file must be in the same folder with engine (if i remember correctly, you need to install .cfg file as "engine" to the CFA). P.S. Same .cfg file working for both Firenzina 2.4.2 and Firenzina 2.4.3. Also read comment about engine here http://chesstroid.blogspot.gr/2016/12/android-uci-engine-update-firenzina-243.html

  21. Hi, Alex first i uninstall the cfa and reinstall cfa after that i did Firenzina 2.4.3 default fire.cfg file edite like below/above mention and install both file as engine in cfa but it show, engine failed to run/program cannot run"/

    // System
    Verbose_UCI 0
    Write_Log 0
    Hash 128
    Pawn_Hash 32
    Max_Threads 4
    Min_Threads 4
    MultiPV 1

Thanks for information,i will be trying to install, perhaps one day it will be.Thanks

  22. Okay Rahul, the problem is empty space in engine name, original name is (Firenzina_2.4.3 AP_uci.arm7.pie) rename it to Firenzina_2.4.3_AP_uci.arm7.pie, i just tried it, it is working, don't install .cfg file to the CFA, just keep it in the same folder with the engine.

    1. Great catch by Alex. I remember now that i'd suffered the same way with Firenzina and healed after renaming months ago.

    2. Hi,Alex
Should i rename the file in fire.cfg (and it will be great if you send me the link by doing what is necessary in firenzina please) i think i am confused how to do.

      Delete
  23. Rahul here it is, keep fire.cfg file in the same folder with the engine, don't add it to CFA, (i've set threads to min 4 - max 4, you can set more or less by yourself, you know how :) )

    1. Alex, now i install your rename firenzina in cfa and cfa show engine exits. I think android naugat is bad for chess and don't worry there are more engine too why are we spending much time for only firenzina.probably,in some months sir Alexie and Gurcan can provide us stronger engine then firenzina.
But thanks thanks thanks a lot for help me by heartily.
      Thanks

    2. Rahul, so you did all that's described in this post and still exits? http://chesstroid.blogspot.com/2016/12/android-uci-engine-update-firenzina-243.html?m=1
Is it 2.4.3 or 2.4.1 in your case?
