Android UCI engine update: Stockfish Dev 2015-10-08 JA

In parallel to TCEC-8 progressing stage by stage until an unexpected result, every stage becomes a pool on speculations whether Stockfish can take back the crown from Komodo.

No doubt, the head-to-head race makes the development compiles attracting. People are insterested to test new versions each and every day before the official update comes. Unstoppable incredible hunger...

Some days ago, we have seen 2015-09-07 version of Stockfish compiled by Peter Österlund. It's in my repository available for the most hungry ones :-)

After a little while, it's now too old as Jim Ablett compiled another dev't version dated 2015-10-08. This one is interesting because we have an arm7 compile from JA for the first time.

Remembering that a previous close tourney between Stockfish compiles revealed that JA compiles perform very well, the arm7 compile from JA might deserve attention.

If i have enough spare time remaining from endless working hours, i want to play another close tourney between Stockfish 6 official, dev 2015-09-07 and dev 2015-10-08.

Or should i push back my appetite and remain patient until Stockfish 7 official release comes?

2015-10-08.JA arm7 under droidfish 1.57: engine error and terminated:(

You are right. I could not import it to Chess for Android either on Exynos 4412. I think JA doesn't have an arm7 device. He may have tested arm5 only.
Arm5 compile is ok on my side.

You're right. Don't have an Arm7 device so I'm compiling in the dark.
Maybe used the wrong compiler switch. I used >

-march=armv7-a

There are about half a dozen different ones to choose from. Very confusing.
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Jim.

jim maybe you need to borrow for a while an arm7 device to rest it:)
meanwhile the sf 7 wont be out soon due to their stubborn rule (when reach +50 elo AND after TCEC 8)
maybe peter could help here.
it would be very exciting if somehow you can solve the problem,
iam waiting for 8 motnhs for a new sf ,its tooooo much:)

Really, ARM 7 compilation isn't function. In CfA message: "Engine stopped."

I am having problems with all the Stockfish 6 and later versions on my new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2.
The number of cores is a big problem and does not work on big.LITTLE architecture octa-core (4+4) SoCs. However with True octa-core MediaTek SoCs, DF 1.57 works perfect.
I am buying the Galaxy edge+ phablet in a few days, and I do not know what to do, as DroidFish 1.57 calculated in the shop more than 2 million nps, but crashed after a few minutes.
A real problem, as DF 1.57 with Stockfish AND Komodo 9.2 are unstable on all my big.LITTLE octa-core SoC devices.
