Jester is an old engine based on TSCP. It's written by Marty Franz from USA and currently rated 1672 by CCRL at 40m/4' time control. On Android, it should be around 1500 ELO, therefore it's highly suitable for your own challenge vs da stooo-pid comphueterz!

Android XB engine update: Kiwi 0.6d.JA fixed
I'd recently posted about Kiwi compiled by Jim Ablett for Android. He has just released a fix to clear "ponder always on" issue and removed the resign mode. I hope that fixed version functions better.
Kiwi is a moderate engine. I've tested it with 5 sec/move control and it simply hanged. Remains to be tested with Fischer clock. For the moment it's part of the engines not yet eligible for RAPIDROID experiment.
Those who are interested in focusing more on Kiwi can download it: HERE

Android XB engine update: Buzz OS 1.0.JA
Though, we had an old compile of Buzz, named as 112708, it had some flaws using time control. Regarding fixed time control, it played quite well expect for occasional abnormal exits. Therefore, it was an engine i never included in my experiments.
After the release of Chess for Android with time controls, i've tested it again and found out it can be used at least in tournaments at 15 sec/move, such as RAPIDROID. Fischer clock still fails.
This new compile by Jim Ablett is named OS 1.0. Remains to be tested for better compatibility. After all, it's an abandoned engine and i guess it will play around 2100 ELO on Android.

New Android UCI engine: Akkad 0.44b.JA
The engine of the day by Jim Ablett (He's working on sundays as well) is Akkad, another Ippolit derivative.
Though i'm not against their presence, derivatives are not my first priority in my chess experiments. But that's my taste that nobody is forced to share at all. So, willing ones can download and plug Akkad: HERE

New Android UCI engine: Kiwi 0.6d.JA
Kiwi is an abandoned engine project by Alessandro Scotti from Italy. It is rated around 2300 ELO by CCRL. On Android, it should be 2100 something. Another retro piece to add into your collection. Thanks again to Jim Ablett for compiling.

There are bitbases files bundled with the engine. I'm not sure they work under Android. I didn't yet face any tablebases working with an XB engine but you may give a try if you wish.
PS: I've just played two test games at 5 sec/move. It hangs at very low scores, close to get checkmated. I think it wants to resign but the GUI can't interpret. It's too bad for the tournaments because the next game can't start.
