Gurcan, tell me about Komodo. After the installation of Komodo, did you make any
changes in Komodo's settings, like hash, cores, path for syzygy?
Or you keeping default settings?

b.t.w new SF working fine!

I don't alter default settings. In CfA, i always set 4 cores, 256 hash no book, no tablebase.

I use default setting and set 4 cores hash 256.
Komodo10 17.5/50
stockfish 160716 32.5/50 Time control 3m+1s. Komodo10 is not good for android.

I've started a match between 160716 and K10 too with the test settings i've mentioned previously. My feeling is that Komodo is as effective as Stockfish against other engines around 200-300 ELO less but against Stockfish things change. That's the reason why it competes well in Rapidroid up to now. I don't know yet whether the weakness against SF is related to the default contempt. When possible, i will repeat with contempt=0 in a second match but let's note in advance that it's not fair to tweak Komodo only and not Stockfish.

Chess for Android 5.2.3

Gurcan, i was talking about Komodos (app) setings, not in C4a :)

Alex said...

What if i change the "time usage" to 9?

Rahul, actually it's not true. First of all Komodo is number one enemy for ST, secondly, Komodo understand much better closed positions than ST, even on slow devices.
The main problem with Komodo is, you want good performance from the engine? Get faster device! For example, if your device has more than 1GB RAM, REAL FREE memory, not locked or something something like that, in this case you will the real power of Komodo! Unfortunately, the developer of Komodo had not thought about the engine performance on slower devices. Personally, I like Komodo, but, until I find faster device, no more Komodo for me!

Thanks Alex for suggestion but i also love komodo playing style

I don't alter any of Komodo's own sertings. This applies to all my tourneys.

I want to think like you but i've got doubts. I'm currently thinking of a special match with LTC but it would take more than a month to retrieve speaking results.

This is Jim's latest webpage. I assure there's nothing left there for us. I've posted all of them to Chesstroid already.

Only Linux... Not Android. I've communicated to the author about Android builds. He didn't yet compile anything for us.

Unknown said...

I can only guess very few elos more vs Stockfish but difficult to guess what happens vs others.

Alex said...

Gurcan, zurichess-graubuenden working fine on my tablet, ANDROID!! Try it.

Hervé said...

This stockfish 20160802 CEPA terminates on some positions (run under Droidfish), not sure it is due to the complies, Syzygy, or the bugs in source code. Peter Österlund's stockfish 20160716 works totally fine.

Gurcan, couple questions. How many hash, need for the engine, in 2m+1s game, and how many hash, in hyper bullet game 1 or 5 sec per move?
Is there any way to calculate hash with accuracy?

Unknown said...

Time-3'm+1's.Book-250 opening Tcec-7(6).
Samsung Galaxy 1 Ghz.
stockfish 160819(CEPA) 268/500.
stockfish 160716 232/500.

Unknown said...

For 120+1 setting 32 or 64MB hash will be fine. For fixed time 1 sec 16 or 32 are both suitable. In general you can use 64MB unless you have an old device. I'm also preparing a post about the hash calculation.

Exciting result. SF on the way to perfect chess play!
